FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION FOR Edmonton Street Sweeping 2026

1. When does Edmonton Street Sweeping 2026 start ?

Residential street sweeping officially began on April 20, 2026, and is scheduled to be completed by June 1, 2026. Crews work in one-week increments, moving neighborhood by neighborhood.

2. What is the fine for not moving my car during street sweeping?

In 2026, the fine for failing to move your vehicle during a scheduled residential parking ban is $250.

3. What are the parking ban hours?

The parking ban is in effect from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Monday through Friday. You are permitted to park on the street overnight (7:01 PM to 6:59 AM) even during your scheduled week, but the car must be moved before 7:00 AM.

4. How do I know when my neighborhood is being swept?

The City uses three main methods:

  • Yellow/White Signs: Placed at neighborhood entrances at least 24 hours in advance.

  • The Online Map: Updated every Friday for the following week.

  • Signs vs. Map: The physical signs on your street always take priority over the online map if the dates differ.

5. What if it rains on my scheduled street sweeping day?

If Edmonton experiences heavy rain or a late spring snowfall, sweeping is typically suspended.

  • The Rule: If they miss your street due to weather, they usually do not come back the next day. They will move on to the next neighborhood and reschedule your street for the end of the season (early June).

6. Do I need to move my driveway ramp?

Yes. Residents are required to remove rubber driveway ramps and any other obstructions from the curb. If a ramp is left out, the sweeper will go around it, leaving a massive pile of debris in front of your house.

7. My street was swept, but it’s still dirty. Why?

Sweepers often make two passes. If the street is still dusty, it may be because a neighbor didn’t move their car, forcing the sweeper to loop around. You can report “missed spots” by calling 311 once the neighborhood is officially marked as “Completed.”

8. Can I park on the street once the sweeper has passed?

Technically, the ban is in effect until 7:00 PM or until the neighborhood is marked “Completed” on the official map. Even if you see a sweeper pass your house at 10:00 AM, a second “finishing” sweeper may come by later. To be safe, wait until 7:00 PM.
